Aim of VSO’s Diaspora Volunteering Initiative: To support and promote the mobilization of diaspora communities to actively contribute, through volunteering, to fighting poverty and disadvantage.

Objectives of VSO’s Diaspora Volunteering Initiative:

• To work in creative and flexible partnerships with volunteer-involving Diaspora organisations towards shared development goals that address poverty and disadvantage,
• To build the capacity of diaspora organisations to develop and manage effective and sustainable volunteering programmes,
• To provide opportunities for networking within the diaspora sector and to facilitate Diaspora’s constructive engagement with other stakeholders on volunteering related issues,
• To promote and build understanding of volunteering and development in diaspora and the wider community in UK.
