All emailed applications will receive an acknowledgement by email. Posted applications must include a stamped addressed envelope if you would like to receive confirmation of receipt. Please note that CVs are not accepted.

The closing date for all VSO posts is midday on the specified date (unless indicated otherwise on the individual vacancy). Applications received after this time, may not be considered.

Shortlisting

Shortlisting for UK and international posts will be carried out solely on the basis of the information provided on the application form. Shortlisting will take place soon after the closing date.

Communication of selection for interview

As a charitable organisation we strive to keep our administrative costs to a minimum. This means we are unable to contact applicants who have not been shortlisted for interview. If you have not heard from us within four weeks of the closing date, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.

Pre-employment checks

All successful applicants will need to provide two references, one being your last employer. We will also check your right to work in the country that the role is based in, unless we are able to gain a work permit for you. Each vacancy will indicate if you need the right to work in the country where it is located.

For some roles, you may also be required to gain medical clearance for you and your dependents, particularly for roles outside of the UK.

In line with our Child Protection Policy and the International Criminal Background Checking Policy, VSO will seek to obtain criminal record checks on all staff who may have access to children or vulnerable adults.
