International relocation

These benefits are applicable for staff who relocate to a programme office in order to take up their role. They are not applicable where international relocation does not occur or for staff relocating to London.
 

Hours of work

Your normal hours of work will be governed by local practice and conditions. 

Flights and baggage

Outward and homebound travel costs for employee and any agreed accompanying dependents. Additionally you will receive return flights to your home country every 18 months.

Relocation allowance

You and any accompanying partner will receive a relocation allowance.

Medical checks and vaccinations

You and your dependents will need to have a medical check to obtain medical clearance and any vaccinations required will be covered.

Health insurance

VSO will provide you and your dependents with reasonable health insurance through AXA PPP healthcare.  This also includes reimbursement for the cost of routine and emergency dental care. 

Accommodation

VSO will endeavour to provide appropriate accommodation for you and your accompanying dependents. Ten per cent of your salary will be deducted as a contribution towards the cost of this. Where the cost of accommodation is lower than 10 per cent of salary, the actual cost will be deducted.

Utilities/telephone

You will receive support for the installation and ongoing maintenance of basic services. This does not include bills or standing charges.

Pension provision

VSO believes that it is important to encourage staff to save for retirement. We offer a voluntary contributory scheme, should you opt to join then VSO will make a contribution. Please contact recruitment@vso.org.uk for further details on the pension scheme.

National Insurance

VSO will comply with any statutory requirements concerning National Insurance for UK nationals employed overseas. Normally, we would meet the cost of VSO's contribution for National Insurance at Class I rate for the first year of your employment overseas. For non-UK nationals, VSO will seek to support staff to retain their basic rights within the social security system in operation in their permanent country of residence.
