Great location

VSO International and VSO UK are based in leafy Putney (zone 2), right near the river Thames, in south west London. We are close to both Overground and Underground stations, and serviced by good bus and cycling routes.  We also have a volunteer training centre in Birmingham.

Salary

We aim to keep our salaries competitive. All salaries based in London include London Weighting. Senior roles are eligible to participate in our performance related pay scheme.

Hours of work

Our standard working week is 35 hours, usually between 9.30am and 5.30pm with one-hour lunch break. Core hours are between 10am and 3pm. VSO operates a flexible approach to working where the nature of the work allows and where it can be supported in line with operational needs. We want to help you strike a good balance between your work and home life.

Annual leave

Everyone gets 29 days leave a year, with three of those days reserved for the Christmas break. This is in addition to the eight bank holidays. 

Pension provision

VSO believes that it is important to encourage staff to save for retirement. We offer a voluntary contributory scheme, should you opt to join then VSO will make a contribution. Please contact recruitment@vso.org.uk for further details on the pension scheme.

Season ticket loan

We offer an interest free season ticket loan to staff, which will be deducted from your salary each month.

Travel insurance

You will be covered by a business travel insurance policy while you are travelling on VSO business.

Sickness support

If you are unwell and unable to attend work, we will support you to get you back into the workplace as soon as you are able. 

Overseas travel

A number of our London-based roles will have the opportunity to travel to and work in our programme offices, where this is relevant to the role and to personal development.
