Active Communities

Rebecca Gyumi (Tanzania - Education)

Active Communities Members are VSO supporters that are passionate about increasing public understanding of international development issues, and building support for international development within the UK.

Members range from returned volunteers to educational professionals to community group leaders, and we assist hundreds of people every year with exciting events all across the country.

So how can you get involved?

1. VSO Action Speakers

Sign up to become a VSO Action Speaker and get training to talk to your community about international development.

Alternatively you could book an Action Speaker to come and speak at your school, church or community group.

2. School Action Programme

If you work in education, bring international development into the classroom through our School Action Programme.

3. Supporter Groups

Join a VSO Supporter Group – use our map to find if there’s one in your area.

These aren't the only ways you can support VSO - we help to support hundreds of supporters each year hold a wide range of community events. Why not have a look at our Spotlight On section to get some inspiration about ways you could support VSO in the UK, and have a look at our resources page to see the kind of help VSO can provide.

Finally if you do hold a VSO event in your community let us know with our easy feedback form – and thank you for getting involved.

If you have any questions you can contact the team by email at active.communities@vso.org.uk or call us on 020 8780 7235.
