VSO has been very fortunate to receive a number of large donations from individuals committed to ending poverty. Thanks to creative opportunities to match these generous gifts through organisations such as "v", our donors have seen the impact of their investment double. They have also helped us leverage funding from the European Commission generating significant results which are monitored to the highest standards.

VSO organises bespoke visits to our projects in Africa, Asia and South America to show you first hand what your generosity can achieve. Our donors are a very important part of the VSO family and we seek ways to involve you in our work through events, networking opportunities, as well as forming close relationships with our programme offices overseas. You will receive personalised, regular updates and reports of the project or volunteer your gift supports as well as opportunities to visit the projects, meet with our country directors and senior staff to discuss development issues and the impact of your gift.
Many of our generous supporters have been VSO volunteers and have experienced firsthand the impact our volunteers have on the local communities in which they work. Like you, they share a passion to see development delivered through true local partnerships, which have the valuable advantage of providing lasting benefits long after our volunteers have returned home.

Your gift is worth more to us this year!
Due to changes implemented in the budget, 2010/11 could see your gift go even further - good news for you and VSO!
Transitional relief available on Gift Aid until April 2011 means that VSO will receive an additional 3 pence for every pound donated, up from 25p to 28p at no extra cost to you!
Furthermore, if you are a higher rate taxpayer you may also be able to benefit from increased tax relief as a result of recent changes in the UK tax system. With the difference between the lower and higher tax rate now greater than before, you can reclaim £37.50 for each £100 donated. Which means if you then choose to donate the difference to VSO a £100 donation could yield £176.28, compared with £160.25 in previous years.
