Trusts and foundations

We are always seeking to build relationships with trusts and foundations that are interested in the work of VSO and that share our aims and values.

If you would like more information, are a trustee or have links with a charitable trust, we would love to hear from you so we can work together to fight global poverty and disadvantage.

How trusts make a difference

The support of trusts and foundations is crucial to our work. You can choose to support:

  • a volunteer

  • a specific project

  • a country

  • an area of work

  • or you can allow us to use your donation where it is most needed.

Your support will help fight global poverty and disadvantage by bringing people together to share their skills, learning and creativity.

We’ll keep you updated on the impact your donation has made, provide you with regular reports and organise visits to the projects you are supporting. We can also provide you with case studies and invite you to our events.

With a dedicated contact in the Philanthropy and Programme Funding team, we will find a VSO project or programme that could directly benefit from your support. Whatever the size of your trust, your money will help us to share skills and save lives.

Success stories

Elton John AIDS Foundation supports VSO in India

Elton John AIDS FoundationThere are an estimated 2.4 million people living with HIV in India. VSO is working with local organisations and networks in India to help build their capacity to empower people living with HIV and challenge stigma and discrimination.

A grant from the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) in 2006 enabled VSO to work with the Positive Women’s Network (PWN+), a national organisation with over 9,000 members living with HIV across eight states in India. PWN+ supports and advocates for the rights of people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.  However, without adequate systems, the organisation was struggling to meet the demand for its services, or to plan activities for maximum impact.

With EJAF’s support, VSO has enabled PWN+ to improve its organisational development. With better financial management and improved skills in fundraising, PWN+ is now expanding its services nationwide, supporting more people infected or affected by HIV, and effecting wider long-term change by championing their rights.

Richard Hawkes, International Programmes Director for VSO, said  “Without EJAF’s support, VSO would not be able to provide the skilled volunteers who can work alongside organisations such as PWN+ that are achieving so much”.
