The race for a place in the London Marathon is now on! More than 34,000 people finished the 2008 Flora London Marathon, making it the third biggest of the 28 London Marathons held since it started in 1981.

  New York City Marathon

This marathon attracts more than 85,000 applicants including world class pro athletes. Two million spectators cheer you on as well as 260 million viewers worldwide watch as you cross the finish line in Central Park.  To find out more, visit their website.

  The Chicago Marathon

The Chicago marathon has a flat course and it is because of its perfect gradient that the quickest marathon times have been recorded here. The course meanders through the city, through 15 neighbourhoods including the Chinese and Hispanic districts and past landmarks such as the Sears Tower.  To find out more, visit their website.

  Berlin Marathon

This marathon has been going since 1974 with participants running from over 100 nations. With live music blaring out from over 50 locations and the route taking you through the Brandenburg Gate just before the finish you are sure to have an emotional run.  To find out more, visit their website.

  Dublin Marathon
