Community groups and schools

As a community or school leader, you don't need to volunteer abroad to help families and communities overcome poverty - because you can make a big difference from where you live.

If you are looking for ways to engage your group in VSO's mission (or any international development), we can help you.

VSO returned volunteers are an incredibly inspiring group of people. Their stories will bring to life the great work of VSO to you, in a way that no brochure ever could.

And right now, we’re developing a 'speaker service' to match returned volunteers to groups like yours, so they can explain to you more about how VSO works in the world. If you would like to be a part of this pilot, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

If you are looking to put your own activity together please talk to us so we can help you. We have a wealth of resources, such as videos and leaflets, as well as access to stats and facts.

Take action

People like you can make a difference to the lives of millions of people in the poorest parts of the world - simply by contributing your time, your money... or your voice.

You can use your time to spread the word about VSO and help us recruit volunteers. We need experienced professionals from the health and education sectors particularly. Take a look at our volunteer pages to see what we are looking for right now. Then get in touch if you think your community group or school can help.

You can raise money by taking part in a fundraising activity. Our fundraising team are here to help with ideas and advice.
You can use your voice to influence policy. Community Groups play an active part in affecting policy on international development by influencing their MP. If you want to know how you can do this most effectively, our campaigns team can help you.
