The Volunteer Journey
The Programme Begins!
After the In-Country Orientation the programme itself begins. You will be transported from the training centre to your community, introduced to your Hosts and shown around your new home. After a few days of getting to know the area with your team, you will start work and begin weekly Global Citizenship Days.
During the next six months you will have loads of opportunities to work with your team on community projects, Educational Activity Days, and social events. You will spend the first three months either in the UK community or overseas community. Then after these three months are up you will switch round, flying either in or out of the UK, to spend the next three months in the other place. The first three months we call 'phase one' and the second three months, 'phase two'.
You will have more opportunities for training, reflection and review throughout the programme. Halfway through each phase you will be running a Mid-Project Review (MPR) with your team. This is an opportunity to get away from the community you are living in and evaluate how you are doing. It is also a great opportunity to have a few days off work and have some fun.
At the end of each phase you will be running a Debrief with your team. During these few days you will evaluate your work and the impact you have had in the community you have been living in.
