New funding partnership for VSO in Cambodia

VSO Cambodia have received a $1.8 million grant, provided by the Government of Japan through the World Bank. The grant is to finance a new project working with the Cambodia Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to improve basic education in six rural provinces.

The project will have a particular focus on inclusion of girls, children with disabilities and other marginalised groups in basic education services.

Bike ride participants taling a well-earned rest

Sponsored cycle ride in cambodia

24 cyclists raise over $2,500 for the Childrens Ward at Stung Treng Hospital, in North East Cambodia ,on a 140km tour covering some of Cambodias dustiest and bumpiest roads.

The ride was organised by Nikki Wales, Rebecca Dove (VSO Volunteers) and Ngoun Chantha (Project Liaison Officer), who all work in Stung Treng at the Referral Hospital. They were assisted by Mr T, a local tour guide for logistical support.

There were 24 participants, from England, Ireland, Scotland, America, Australia, Belgium and Cambodia. There were people from CARE international, VSO, Co-operation Committee Cambodia (CCC), Save the Children Australia, Partners for Development, Stung Treng Womens Development Centre, IUCN, as well as three very dedicated travellers who came from Ireland and England to join the tour.
