    Giving as a Community Group

Community groups who would like to support VSO may be interested in joining our groups linking scheme.

    The personal touch

For a donation of around £1,000 towards our work, a club can link up with a serving volunteer of their choice. This gives members a very personal view of the issues of the developing world and allows them to see the work achieved by VSO through donations. Groups can choose a volunteer from their local community, or working in an area they have a particular interest in.

The chosen volunteer will keep in contact with the donor organisation, sending 3-4 reports a year on their work and experiences. Groups often invite the volunteer to meet them before they start they placement, and ask them to do a presentation about their experiences on their return.

Current VSO donors include companies, trusts, professional organisations, Rotary clubs and churches.

If your group would be interested in finding out more about our linking scheme, please contact the Community Relations Team on 0121 428 1614 or email: hhvolunteer@vso.org.uk.

    Testimony
"Our group have been supporting VSO for some time. This year, we are pleased to be linked with a volunteer working as an HIV and AIDS advisor for a charity for blind people in Mozambique. Our group has a particular interest in work with the visually impaired and Soroptimist International are closely involved with those working in HIV and AIDS, so Tina's placement combines these areas of interest for us. She sent us a very interesting Newsletter at the start of her time in Mozambique, and we look forward to learning more about her work and experiences."

A member of a Soroptimist group participating in the linking scheme.
