VSO - Sharing Skills, Changing LivesNews from around VSO > IndiaSecurity update following Delhi bombings(1 November 2005) Following the three bomb blasts in Delhi on Sunday 30 October, VSO India has confirmed that no staff or volunteers were affected. VSO is monitoring the security situation very closely and all volunteers have been further briefed on appropriate security precautions. Hilary Benn visits VSO India(22 December 2004) Commissioner Hilary Benn, UK Secretary of State for International Development, attended a round table discussion on disability hosted by VSO’s India programme office last week. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive and a letter from the Department for International Development stated that: VSO as a South-South volunteer agency as much as a North-South, has clear added value in broadening the sharing of experiences and strategies for inclusion... What came across was the quality of the work being done. World Bank disability study turns to VSO(2004) VSO India have been asked to be an adviser to a World Bank study on disability in India. The study aims to highlight the link between disability and poverty so that the World Bank can move from an inclusive disability policy recommendation into actual policy and practice. India is one of four country studies being commissioned by the World Bank.
