Continued Professional Development throughout your VSO experience

If you’re looking for structured Continued Professional Development (CPD) on your volunteer placement, VSO's new "Learning Together" book is just the ticket.

VSO has teamed up with returned VSO volunteer Andrew Morris and NASUWT to develop a learning resource for volunteers working in education projects. "Learning Together" offers serving volunteers an opportunity to work with in a structured framework and develop their own professional skills throughout their VSO placement.

The book addresses the DFES’s three strands of CPD: pupil attainment, ownership of CPD and supporting the CPD of others. As well as a practical resource, the CPD book also offers teachers a tool to measure progress and allows them to monitor and document the professional development their VSO placement offers.

Primary head teacher Jayne Dingley worked as a VSO volunteer in Ghana for two years. She says
“The Learning Together book helps teachers to reflect on their development and provides documented evidence of their experiences. As a head teacher I welcome the opportunity for teachers to be able illustrate their professional development in such a coherent way.”
