You can help disadvantaged communities to access further education, to exercise their rights and to find employment.If you're interested in studying for a TEFL certificate, the Trinity TESOL and Cambridge CELTA courses are internationally recognised. Jobs for qualified maths and science teachersIf you've got a PGCE or BEd in maths or science, you could be working as a maths teacher in Africa. You can help to address the shortage of trained maths and science teachers in African schools.To do other volunteer jobs, you’ll need two years’ work experienceOur volunteers work with local colleagues and communities to empower them to fight disadvantage, take control of their future and fulfil their potential. You'll need at least two years’ work experience in your field to be able to teach, train and advise your colleagues.Youth programmes for 17-25 year oldsWe have two youth programmes for people aged 17-25 with an interest in volunteering. The World Youth programme is for 6 months and the Youth for Development programme for 12 months.Challenge eventsYou can go overseas with VSO without becoming a volunteer - by taking part in one of our overseas challenge events.
