Volunteer work Bolivia

The main volunteer work undertaken by VSO in Bolivia includes increasing youth employment opportunities and protecting the natural resources of the region.
Volunteering in Bolivia can be a rewarding experience for individuals interested either in helping teens and young adults or those interested in the environment.
Volunteer work in Bolivia focuses on youth economic concerns because the number of employment opportunities in the region does not match the number of young men and women looking to enter the labour force. As with most other developing countries, employment is a way to achieve independence in Bolivia. However, the region is able to support only one third of the number of young adults who enter the job market each year.
Volunteers with VSO work to raise awareness and provide job training in skills that can increase employment opportunities for young adults. Volunteers also work on projects that promote other youth organizations to lessen the social problems that come with poverty.
VSO volunteers work to promote and protect the rich natural resources in the region through conservation and a reduction in poverty by focusing on resources management. The focus is to help the local communities understand and willingly work towards climate change. An alliance with the Chiquitano Model Forest increases the opportunities for volunteering in Bolivia.
Placements in Bolivia are currently only available for Canadian nationals, or for people who qualify to be recruited by CUSO-VSO
