Volunteer Work in Bosnia And Herzegovina

Ever since the dissolution of Yugoslavia, the Balkans have undergone drastic changes.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is one area where people were greatly affected. Volunteer organizations have spent years in this region of South-eastern Europe to help the people there recover from the war that took place in the mid-1990s.
Volunteer work in Bosnia and Herzegovina was carried out to help young people especially, who were often the most emotionally scarred by the ordeal. Volunteer organizations also made the development of communities an important part of their work. Since social services were not always available after the war, delivering them became a priority for volunteers.
Currently, VSO works with Bosnian volunteer partners known as OKC.
The shared goal of these organizations is to foster development across the country. As a result of their partnership, there have been nearly a dozen new centres for volunteers set up all over the country, which has promoted national volunteering in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These centres are linked to one another in a large network so they are able to help one another succeed and find solutions to the problems that may be faced by the volunteers.
