Volunteer work in Peru

Volunteer work in PeruThe social and economic inequality that exists in Peru remains one of the country's biggest problems. Many women, children, indigenous, and minority groups face great difficulty when dealing with Peru's legal system. The justice system is incapable of doing the work it was designed to accomplish and often fails to address human rights abuses and wrongs done against indigenous women and children.

VSO is currently conducting volunteer work in Peru to help support local and national initiatives to improve the justice system and to create equality for people of all groups. VSO volunteers are working to help local people find the means for defending their basic human rights.

There are a huge number of young people in Peru between the ages of 15 and 29 who have no source of income.

VSO volunteers work with local organisations and communities to help find new means of earning a living for the large population of youth. By helping these young people find work, VSO volunteers are helping to build a better future for Peru.

The work in Peru is in part of a regional programme in cooperation with organisations in Canada. Currently only volunteers recruited through CUSO-VSO in North America are able to participate in this programme.
