Volunteer work in Vietnam
VSO’s work in Vietnam focuses on two areas - disability and HIV and AIDS.
In Vietnam, people with disabilities are viewed as people that need care and cannot live normal productive lives. This closes many doors for them. VSO volunteers are working with partner organizations in Vietnam to change this view. They are also working to make formal education more inclusive, and to promote equal rights of disabled people to employment and income generation.
Vietnam has an increasing rate of HIV. The problem is aggravated by the lack of education about the condition, and the associated stigma.
Professionals volunteering with VSO in Vietnam support organisations to deliver campaigns, educate, counsel, raise awareness and provide better care and support to people affected by HIV.
