Opportunities for primary teachers and leaders to help transform the quality of education in Rwanda.
Education is a high priority for the Rwandan government. Since 1998 we have supported their aim of achieving quality basic education for all. In that time, great progress has been made to improve access, with over 90% attendance rates in 2010. However, despite the increased access and participation, significant quality issues remain.
Building on our existing work in Rwanda, VSO is working with the Rwandan government and other aid agencies to provide a renewed programme that focuses on transforming quality.
Launched in 2013, the programme will deliver a range of volunteer placements designed to tackle the crucial issues and provide support where it is needed. We need experienced primary teachers, head teachers, school leaders, curriculum managers, special needs and literacy/language specialists to share their skills with fellow teachers and school leaders and help transform the quality of education.
- Numeracy and literacy curriculum advisers
- Education management advisers
- Methodology and resource advisers
- Early childhood primary teachers
We also have a range of volunteer placements in Rwanda that focus on disability inclusiveness in education. Visit our special education roles to find out what opportunities are available.
