The Voluntary Service Development Centre purpose is to provide support for the students to engage in voluntary services as a means to youth formation. Supported by the college, the Centre works beyond the campus and has supported the students to design and participate in local community volunteer services, as well as in poor western provinces such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaan’xi, Qinghai and Tibet, even in Thailand and Bangladesh. The VSDC placement is expected to help increase the organizational and technical capacity of the Centre, to enable it to deliver more effective volunteering services to poor areas in Western China.

Role

• To assess the internal strength and weakness of the Center and opportunities & threats lying in the external environment.
• To help design the process for a strategic planning and organizational system set-up, ensuring the partner is involved throughout the process.
• To assess the long-term support needs of the center and the contribution to VSO’s National Volunteering Programme strategy, and make recommendation for future volunteer placements if necessary.
• To support the Centre strengthen communication with other stakeholders, and mobilise resources.

You will have Strong organisational development skills in strategic planning, internal governance. Excellent facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to apply Creative and analytical thinking. Any experience of Resource mobilisation, communication and marketingwill add strength to the placement. Ideally you will have Experience in managing organisations or development programmes whilst working with multi-stakeholders in a cross cultural context.
