Example volunteer jobs

Below you’ll find examples of the kinds of volunteer jobs we need to fill. For a full breakdown of the wide range of professional skills and experience we’re looking for, visit our volunteering pages.

Needed now (?)
  Project manager, Vietnam
The Da Nang Street Children Programme (DSCP) helps around 360 displaced and street children. It provides them with clothing, housing, education, health care and employment skills. Its managers are charismatic and committed, but desperately over worked. Staff members are enthusiastic and experienced, but there’s little opportunity for staff development and wages are very low. DSCP is keen to increase its financial independence in order to expand its activities, and to provide more funding for core costs, such as staff development. DSCP needs guidance in planning how to undertake such activities and help in producing a strategic plan which would allow it to approach different donors. As a volunteer with DSCP you’ll share your management skills and assess, advise and facilitate both your colleagues’ and the organisation’s development.

  Nurse Trainer, Mongolia
Over the past 15 years Mongolia has experienced tremendous change as a result of exchanging a communist regime for one dominated by democratic processes and market forces. As the economy flourishes, some sections of society struggle to keep up. Healthcare as well as social welfare have declined for some. Due to Mongolia’s small population, the potential impact of each volunteer placement is great. You’ll contribute to reducing common illnesses in provinces in and around the capital Ulaanbaatar and assist the Nursing Association in developing an improved training programme for local nurses.

  Primary teacher trainer, Malawi
The introduction of free primary education for all in Malawi in 1994 was a tremendous step forward in the country’s development. However, very high pupil to qualified teacher ratios are an inevitable result of the policy. Once teachers are qualified, there’s little opportunity for continuing professional development, which is essential for increasing both the quality of teaching and the motivation of teachers. Volunteers in Malawi support the Ministry of Education in both pre-service and in-service primary teacher training. As a Continuing Professional Development Facilitator, you’ll support colleagues to assess and respond to the training needs of primary school teachers throughout the district.
