STEP ONE: Search for opportunities > Doctor (Obstetrician / Gynaecologist)

If you’re a qualified and experienced obstetrician or gynaecologist, you could share your vital knowledge to make motherhood safer in countries such as Kenya, Tanzania or Cambodia.

If you’re MBBS or MBChB qualified with at least 3 years’ post-registration experience and a background in obstetrics or gynaecology, you can help change lives in the world’s poorest countries.

Royal College Fellowship programme

If you’re a doctor in ST5 or up, you can spend a year or more with VSO as out of programme experience endorsed by the Royal College for Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. As a Royal College fellow, you’ll have the mentorship of a UK and in-country senior doctor, and structured support to show the clinical, teaching, managerial skills and competencies you gain.

As an Obs and Gyn Specialist at Ende District Hospital, you’ll work with hospital staff to improve maternity services in Flores. With no specialist clinician for its delivery ward, perinatal complications were the hospital’s second highest causes of death in 2006.
