Volunteering

STEP ONE: Search for opportunities > Public Health Professional

Right now we’re looking for public health professionals to help improve the health of some of the poorest communities in the world.

You could be reducing maternal death rates in rural Indonesia, or strengthening HIV and AIDS health education in Nigeria. The requests we receive from our partners include assistance with mother and child health, nutrition, reproductive health and HIV and AIDS initiatives.

Skills needed for volunteer work in public health

If you have a public health qualification, with or without a clinical background, and at least 2 years’ relevant experience, we have a variety of volunteer jobs for your transferable skills.

Experience in health promotion, community health education or behaviour change communication is particularly needed. Also in demand is experience of managing community-based health interventions, training others, and participatory community development.

Come and meet us!

If you're an experienced health professional and would like to find out more about volunteering with VSO, come along to our information day in early 2009. You'll hear from returned volunteers and learn more about the volunteering opportunities available in your profession.
