Application
1st October – 7th January
Short listing
If short listed, applicants attend assessment days in London
(mid February to mid March)
If selected volunteers will be sent acceptance pack containing full details of programme
1:1 placement discussion with a member of the YfD team
Training course:
Preparing for Change
(25th – 27th April 2008)
Training course:
Volunteers and Development
(10th – 14th July 2008)
Training courses:
Health and Security Briefing and Skills for Working in Development
(These are 5 days long and volunteers can choose from several dates)
Volunteers go overseas
(between August – November 2008 depending on their placement country)

Going overseas is dependent on the volunteer setting up a global education project, securing medical and security clearance, and fundraising a minimum of £900 towards the cost of the placement.
In-country training
Support visits from Programme Office staff in country
Volunteers invited to attend Returned Volunteers training course upon return to the UK
