YfD placements

Where will I be? What will I do?

VSO volunteers work in 34 countries around the World.

YfD placements are usually 12 months long starting between August-November depending on placement country.

VSO country programmes support local initiatives that address the causes and symptoms of disadvantage. In the countries where we work, VSO works with partners to develop placements that contribute to an overall country strategic plan.

All placements in the countries that VSO works are in line with these strategic priorities and volunteers are matched to placements on the basis of their skills and experiences. Whilst everything will be done to ensure that the personal preferences and interests of volunteers are taken into consideration when a placement match is identified, ultimately we respond to partner’s needs and therefore match volunteers to placement requests on the basis of skills.

All YfD placement support one of our development goals in the following six areas: The work that individual volunteers will carry out depends upon the specific placement. There are a huge variety of placements available each year.
